I sometimes like to cook.
Other times, it just seems like a chore.
I’ll get excited about a new recipe–like these stuffed cabbage rolls. Don’t they look delicious and so much fun to make? Little pillows of meat smothered in a sweet tomato sauce.
Yeah, except for the fact that you have to boil the cabbage and then dump it in an ice bath until the leaves are pliable. Then you have to mince an onion before mixing it with the ground beef AND THEN rolling up the meat inside of the cabbage leaves. Then comes the sauce and the arranging of everything in a pan before baking for two hours. TWO HOURS.
In the end, it just wasn’t worth it. Sure, it was delicious, but so is meatloaf. And these stuffed cabbage rolls are basically little gift-wrapped meatloaves. In fact, I have some of the leftover meat mixture frozen. It will become a meatloaf in the near future.
That’ll teach me to not read the recipe before starting a meal.
In other news, I snagged these pointy-toed mules and they’re to die for.
